I was gearing up for my big trip to Taiwan. It was to be a direct flight from New York, a 14 hour flight crossing 12 time zones, all with no refueling (Amazing huh).
So I had a day to see the sights in New York, as it happened Sept 11, 2012 (The 10th Anniversary of you-know-what).
What to do ?
Well, I have always wanted to go to the top of the Empire State Building but there is always such a long line to go in. But maybe today the focus of attention in the city will be elsewhere and those tourists who are not part of the memorials will be avoiding the city.
Indeed it turned out to be a great time to visit. I walked right through a huge waiting area though it was still crowed on the deck. I can only imagine what it's like on a normal day.
